How can I believe in a god who doesn’t dance?

The Bath

    The Bath is an oil on canvas by Mary Cassatt, a 19th American artist who was very much in influenced French Impressionist painters like Renoir, Manet, Monet, and Degas. It was painted in 1892 and you can find it today in the Art institut of Chicago.

    In the foregroud, there is a jug and a basin full of water in a red pattern rug. In the middle ground a mother is holding her daughter on her knees and gently washing her foot. The little girl is nacket but for a towell around her waist. In the background, there is the waal, cuvered with a flowery  wallpaper, and the chest of drawers.

    The composition is in curves and circles like for instance the jug, the basin, and the too characters heads witch are touching. The artist focus on  the love betwen mother and daughter.
